Guide to Woodminster Amphitheater for Patrons with Disabilities or Limited Mobility

For accessible seating tickets, click here to submit request form.

ACCESS REQUEST FORM

Part of the charm of Woodminster Amphitheater is its rustic and rural environment. The amphitheater itself is an historic WPA construction that is over 70 years old, and the setting is the beautiful hillside Joaquin Miller Park. We want everyone to be able to enjoy this idyllic, woodsy environment, and we are always eager to work with our patrons to make sure each theater-goer has comfortable access to our shows.

If you or someone in your party has a disability or limited mobility, you may make a request for accessible seating or other requests when you purchase tickets in advance online, or at the box office located at 1428 Alice Street, Oakland, CA 94610, between the hours of 3:30pm and 7:00pm Monday thru Friday and Saturday, 10am until 1:00pm. You may also make your request by e-mailing us at boxofficesundays@gmail.com or calling us at (510) 238-3052. If you reach the message machine, leave your information so that staff can return the call. Finally, you can also make a request by clicking on the online Access Request Form on this page.We have a number of wheelchair seats with adjacent companion seats, and we also have designated courtesy seats for patrons with mobility issues.

There are two entrances to the amphitheater, the Lower Gate that is adjacent to parking lot #1, and the Upper Gate that is adjacent to parking lot #5. The performance-night box office is at the Upper Gate, but patrons with tickets may use either entrance.

Accessibility at the Lower Gate Entrance

You’ll find this entrance next to the stage door, at the bottom of the amphitheater off parking lot #1. This entrance provides access to the lower section seats at the front of the house, but requires the patrons to climb at least 5 fairly steep steps to enter the amphitheater. Passengers may be dropped off just a few feet from this amphitheater entrance. There is limited disabled permit parking, and 2 wheelchair-accessible portable toilets, in this lot. No interior access ramp is provided for the lower seating area. Patrons will be required to climb stairs to access all Courtesy Seats. Only portable restroom facilities are available, and no accessible concession stand is located at the lower level. To date, the lower entrance is not wheelchair accessible

Accessibility at the Upper Gate Entrance

This is the entrance we recommend for our patrons in wheelchairs. ADA facilities are clustered in the rear of the Woodminster Amphitheater and include wheelchair accessible seating areas, companion seats, and restrooms. The parking lots adjacent to this entrance are #5 and #6, and the closest section of parking lot #5 is held on performance nights for cars with disabled parking permits. From the paved road, a wheelchair may be powered or pushed up the path to the upper gate, where there is a paved platform encompassing the concessions area and accessible rest rooms, as well as the wheelchair platforms.

Picnic Facilities

A number of picnic tables inside the amphitheater may be purchased by concert-goers and are available online or at the box office. Tables on the upper level are wheelchair accessible.

Courtesy Seating

For all events, a minimum of 25 lower section seats and 70 upper section seats are held for people with limited ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and/or stand up, and up to two of their companions.
